For Solid Soaps: Add 1-3% to oils to emulsify pre-trace soap. Helps reduce 'soda ash' on new soap. Contributes somewhat to harder finished soap.
For Liquid Soaps: Not recommended for liquid soapmaking due to low solubility.
For Other Uses:
Used in balms, lotions, salves, creams as a thickener, emulsifier,
humectant. Used in many other crafts, too: candlemaking, batik,
bookbinding and more.
