Essential Oil Amounts and Temp?

I am wanting to know the experience of others with appropriate quantities of essential oil per pound of diluted liquid soap.  I have read 1/2 tsp, 2 tsp, 2 oz.  Those are such different quantities.  Essential oils are also supposed to be kept cool to prevent dissipation but the books say to add when still very hot.  Any thoughts on how cool it can be and still blend well with the soap.  (Yes, I know that fragrance oils are easier to work with, but I really want to use essential oils.)

I have been making quite a lot of liquid soap and this works for me.  I neutralize in a double boiler and bring the diluted soap to 180 degrees F.  After I neutralize, I take it off the heat and immediately add the essential oils at a 1% of the total diluted soap batch.  Makes a nice strong scent but not over powering. Hope this helps.

Still experimenting with various fragrance strengths, myself (and probably always will be).  My conclusion so far is to make a small test batch first. With liquid soaps, at least one can addd a small measured amount to a small batch portion of LS & 'scale it up' when it seems right.
