For Solid Soaps: Be sure your liquid soap isn't "lye heavy". Phenolpthalein changes color at the correct acid/base (pH) level of properly made soap.
For Liquid Soaps: Add a drop to a diluted sample of freshly made liquid soap to measure and confirm proper ‘neutralization’ when using Borax or Boric Acid as neutralizer.
