Selling My Soaps

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself. I have been making soap on and off for the past 7 years. (I am actually a 2nd generation soapmaker). I process both hot and cold process soaps. My children and I all have Eczema, so now it is mandatory for me to make soap whether or not I decide to sell some. We can not use commercially produced products. I started selling my soaps after a few people expressed their dissatisfaction with their current soap. Needless to say, they are just as hooked as I am.. In my opinion, once you try handcrafted soap, you will feel the difference..I currently sell mostly to customers locally in my area, sometimes at craftshows, and online.. In the next few months, I hope to be able to focus more on selling through other outlets.

When I made soaps years ago (at least 10), I made hot processed soap mainly because I didn't like waiting for the soap to cure. It was a learning process but the soaps were fabulous! Life got in the way and I had to quit. Now I'm looking to make soap again , both bar and liquid.

Well  dixoncandlebath, your soaps look Gorgeous!!! Love your presentation! See if I could get the right lighting I could put my babies here too :) Ah some day... I havent done the hot process yet but it seems interesting. I can relate to the difference in handcrafted soap. The difference is HUGE! People at my work can't believe how much softer their skin is and most don't need to use a lotion right after either. Good fortune in your endeavors I know you'll be a great success! :)

So many people have had similar stories over the years...

I'm curious - has soapmaking changed much since your Mother or Father used to do it?

Your soaps look great! Nice presentation.

I'm sure others would benefit from any soapmaking tips you might want to share.
