What's was going wrong??

Yesterday I made my second liquid soap and after a night in the crockpot the soap is not liquid, it is solid!
My receipe was
Coconut Oil 45 %
Canula Oil 35 %
Almond Oil 20 %

I superfatted with 6 %.

The Soap went well so far until I left it with 2.500 g boiling water over night in the crockpot.
Heat was off.
In the morning when I looked after the soap it was nearly solid with less water on the top.

Is it possible to solve it with the addition of more water?
Does anybody knows what went wrong with it???

Best regards from sunny Germany
and thank You for any information

Hi Steve,

thank You for Your reply.
That was exactly the point! Superfatting!
I tried it again with same oils and 0% superfatting. It works without any problems.
Thank You.
I just forgot that I must not superfat with liquid soaps.

Thanks again,
best regards, Britta

Hi Britta

Is it safe to assume that you used potassium hydroxide and not sodium hydroxide to make your liquid soap base?

Also, you didn't state quantities used - what was the final soap concentration in the diluted product?

Separately - Why are superfat liquid soap at 6%?  Please see other explanations on the SBM website as to why you should set our SBM liquid soap calculator at 0% to prevent problems in your finished soaps.
